Happy National Physical Therapy Month!

In honor of National Physical Therapy Month, we are highlighting the life’s work of Yaffa Liebermann, PT, GCS, CEO of Prime Rehabilitation Services and Mobile Therapy Services.

Yaffa Liebermann has had a long and impressive career since graduating from Asaf Harofe School of Physical Therapy in 1966.  Yaffa is a certified neuro-developmental therapist (NDT) in adult hemiplegia. Having developed mastectomy and pulmonary rehabilitation programs that were implemented in both hospitals and respiratory centers, Yaffa found her love and passion working with the elderly in the nursing home environment. She’s a Geriatric Clinical Specialist (GCS), and board-certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).  In her role as Chief Executive Officer, she has prioritized and successfully mentored staff at all levels to reach their professional potential. She has had second-generation therapists reach out to her for mentoring and guidance.

Yaffa Liebermann is an extraordinary physical therapist; highly regarded in her company and throughout the community. Her ability to hear her patient’s needs coupled with her extensive knowledge of Physical Therapy along with her insightful approach to problem-solving has led to her becoming the choice of generations of patients, as well as many clinicians and their own families.

Yaffa Liebermann’s strengths are illustrated by her: unwavering commitments to the Physical Therapy profession, her clients and her employees. Yaffa demonstrates unparalleled leadership within her company.   She is among the first to meet with newly hired therapists and assist in their orientation process.  Yaffa actively encourages clinical affiliations, most especially Level II students to guide and shape their scope of practice to the underserved population. She also truly enjoys the opportunity to work with new graduates, welcoming them with open arms and fostering their introduction to the world of physical therapy while sharing her knowledge and expertise.  Yaffa makes great efforts to maintain her personal relationships with each and every therapist within her company and enjoys spending time among the teams.

As a female business owner and treating therapist, Yaffa Liebermann is a role model for other physical therapists.  Her first- authored book, Stroke Restoration:  Functional Movements for Patients and Caregivers, along with her children’s books, I Stand-up Straight, along with two workbooks and a video on YouTube demonstrate her passion and purpose to advocate for physical therapy in different formats.

Yaffa Liebermann has committed herself to a life of outstanding clinical practice, positively impacting the quality of practice and the clinical practice of others while contributing to the state associations.  As a keynote speaker at many universities and industry conferences, Yaffa Liebermann, PT, CEO is highly regarded amongst her peers. Topics include proper breathing, wellness exercises, proper body mechanics, and stroke restoration, amongst others. Yaffa continues to educate therapists about how patients can breathe better and perform movements in a safe and correct way—so they can prevent future injuries and carry their bodies in a healthy and beautiful way.

Yaffa Liebermann’s vision and leadership are remarkable, and her accomplishments have been transformative for her companies. She has been a role model, change agent, and advocate for the benefits of physical therapy.

As this month highlights the profession of Physical Therapy, may each recall a Physical Therapist that had a profound impact on you, a loved one, your facility, and/or a patient.
