Bringing the Olympics to Lester Senior Living

This summer, while the 2024 Olympics dazzled the world in Paris, we brought the thrill of competition closer to home with our very own Senior Olympics at Lester Senior Living!

Our event lineup featured the javelin throw, shuffleboard, and a bean bag target toss—each designed not only for fun but also to promote key therapeutic goals. When planning the activities, we emphasized skills such as dynamic standing and sitting balance, functional grasp and reach, and crossing midline for bilateral integration. Each event was tailored to accommodate our participants’ varying functional abilities, ensuring that everyone could compete at their own level.

At Prime Rehabilitation Services, we believe that freedom and independence come in many forms. For our senior athletes, that means the ability to move confidently, engage fully, and enjoy life’s challenges. Our team of occupational, physical, and speech-language therapists work diligently to incorporate these principles into engaging events like these. Each activity was carefully crafted to encourage physical activity, social connection, and above all, a sense of accomplishment.

We were delighted to witness the enthusiasm and skill on display, with many close contests and some truly remarkable performances. After a week of friendly competition, individual event winners were crowned, and three overall champions proudly received their medals at our closing ceremony. The joy wasn’t limited to the athletes—our spirited cheerleaders played a big part in creating an atmosphere of celebration and support.

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, and the buzz is already building for the winter games. Our seniors are ready to push their limits once again while continuing their journey toward greater health, confidence, and freedom.

At Prime Rehabilitation Services, we’re dedicated to helping individuals reclaim their independence—whether through competition, therapy, or everyday activities. Our Senior Olympics captured that spirit, bringing out the best in our community and proving that age is no barrier to having fun and staying active.
